The Event

The Fabric of Reality was a fully immersive virtual fashion show launched inside the Museum of Other Realities (MOR). Produced by RYOT, Verizon Media’s storytelling studio, and curated by the FIA in collaboration with Kaleidoscope, it was the first virtual reality fashion exhibition of its kind.

Three fashion designers paired with VR artists to create Storyworlds: self-contained virtual universes built around each designer’s sculptural garments.

Designers and VR Artists

  • Damara Yolanda Ingles x Sutu: Symbiotic Wear. A biotechnological interactive hybrid set inside a contemporary ritual.
  • SABINNA x VRHUMAN: A Stitch In Time. A world connecting past, present, and future through handcraft and emerging technology.
  • Charli Cohen x Ana Duncan x John Orion Young (JOY): Embrace Your Meh with Duvet Days. A melancholic journey through a vulnerable mind, exploring themes of isolation and mental health.

My Role

I joined the project from early ideation. I scouted the Museum of Other Realities in VR and shared a detailed assessment of the space with the production team, including recorded walkthroughs. I advised on hardware requirements and produced video content for marketing.

During the live broadcast I worked as virtual reality cameraman at Yahoo Studios: operating inside the virtual environment in real time, alongside the physical production crew.

WebAR Follow-up

The following year I produced a WebAR experience alongside the artists involved. The piece was featured in a HuffPost article, extending the project’s reach beyond the original VR broadcast.
